'She gets so happy when she hears her name': Dog mom’s small act of kindness brings joy to her pup and the whole neighborhood

Any good dog owner will jump through flaming hoops to make sure that their doggo is happy. Luckily, this pawrent was able to do so for their pupper without any fire involved at all. In fact, it involved something as simple as a sign that stated her doggo's name, Emma. You see, Emma has a favorite window spot which she likes to stick her head out of and people watch. She likes it so much that she even busted through the screen in order to stick her head farther out. People love to say hi to Emma, and she loves being said hi to, but until recently, her greeting was always, "Hi doggy". After hanging the wholesome sign right under her window spot, the greetings changed to, "Hi Emma", and Emma has never been happier.

One simple act of kindness is all it takes to make your dog's life better. When we moved to a new house, our doggo had a rough time figuring out where "her" spot was. After a few weeks, she decided she really loved a corner in the living room that was right next to the couch, so we could pet her while we were on the couch. We went out and bought her a new bed to put in her new spot, and now she runs there happily after every walk, waiting for us to relax and give her the love she deserves.

You only get one life with your dogs, and it's never long enough. Hang the sign, buy the bed, and make them happy. That is your job as a pawrent, after all.

Oh, dear commenter, you are certainly not the only one who says hi to doggos in public. We have to be herded away from them. If we're sitting outside at a cafe and someone with a dog shows up, we will 100% ask to pet it. They'll have to pull us away from each one that arrives.

It must be so exciting for a pupper to have random strangers know your name. Our doggo also gets excited when people call her by her name - sometimes it even gives her zoomies!
